This week we are working on telling true stories about ourselves. We are thinking about small moments in our lives that let us tell a story. We are thinking about our thoughts and our actions during these small moments. We are telling true stories about ourselves.
Here is what some fifth graders are writing:
"It took you almost over two hundred feet then shot you down so fast your mouth went into a permanent smile."
"On this day, this special day, I get my violin. There it is right in front of me: Main Violin LLC. I step into the doorway and in front of me are cellos, violas, bass, harps, guitars, and most of all violins. I will never forget the smell. A musky-sweet-saw-dusty smell. The smell of rosin, wood and strings. Such a wondrous day. What a wonderful light is all around me, dancing in imaginary violin music."
"Runners take your mark, get set, bang! As you settle into a breathing rhythm exhaustion sets in. Why can't you spring for 30 seconds without getting tired? Why? Because running's more about keeping your pace than not getting tired. And breathing for that matter cause if you're not breathing what are you? You're dead (ask anybody) If you're not even pumping blood through your veins how can possible pump your legs which weigh more?"
