Fifth graders continue to hunt small moments that tell big stories. Fifth graders have brain stormed ideas and are now drafting a couple personal narratives. We draft at least two personal narratives so that we have choices when it comes to publishing.
One student finished a draft of her personal narrative and was then challenged to draft another narrative even though she had no ideas. After only one writing period, this student found another personal narrative to tell, and she liked this one even more than she liked her first.
Other students have a series of small moments and snapshots of stories. They will turn these shorter stories in to a collection of personal narratives.
