One of the things fifth graders are worried about when they think about the farm trip is medicine. Some fifth graders have medicine that they take daily, others get carsick, some get homesick, still others of us have allergies.
Together we have talked about the fact that one of our chaperones will be in charge of making sure that each student takes their medicine at the appropriate time. This alleviated a good deal of stress.
I think that some students were worried that we wouldn't let them bring their medicine on the trip since we have indicated that students are not to bring food. I also think that some of the students believed they would have to keep track of their own medication. A chaperone will hold the medicine and make sure that everyone gets what they need.
